Visiting a wayne county historical landmark

What started as a "poor house" for the underprivileged and those unable to care for themselves, Eloise grew to become a large complex containing a medical hospital, the poor house, staff housing, a farm, train station stop, post office and more. Essentially, the 900+ acre estate became a self sufficient town that habitants would rarely need to leave. It is popularly known for its asylum that cared for patients with severe mental disabilities and those that were dangerous and/or had committed crimes. The tour showed us where they performed medical procedures and hydrotherapy (the photos of the bath tub and adjoining plumbing that controlled the extreme water temperatures used). The two green signs depicted give a brief overview of what was talked about during the tour.

This historical tour was fascinating and I was able to capture photos of the grounds and some of the displayed literature about the building. The site is also home to a haunted house and they sometimes have options for paranormal tours. One of the rooms in the remaining building was investigated on a paranormal TV show. All of the photos below were captured with my current favorite travel camera- a Fujifilm XT30.
